Zimbabwe vs Pakistan 2nd ODI: Score, Highlights, Commentary and Status

zim-vs-pak

Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 6 wickets: A very easy win for Pakistan and they have sealed the series. It was never in doubt after they restricted Zimbabwe to a low total courtesy a fifer by Iftikhar. Their batters did their job too with Azam being the star with the bat. He did receive support form Imam and Ali to register a complete performance.

Zimbabwe (206/10)

Brian Chari (25/46): Faheem Ashraf to Brian Chari, OUT! TAKEN! Chari is out of here and the patnership which was looking good has been cut short. Chari was looking a little fidgety in the last few overs by trying to attack the bowlers. He looks to step out this time but Faheem sees that. He bangs it short and on middle. Chari tries to pull but is hurried into the shot. He gets a top edge which goes high up in the air towards deep square leg. Haider Ali makes no mistake. Pakistan continue to remain on top.

Chamu Chibhabha (6/8): Haris Rauf to Chamu Chibhabha, OUT! CAUGHT! First ODI wicket for Haris Rauf and he has broken the opening partnership of Zimbabwe! The skipper of Zimbabwe walks back now. Back of a length ball outside off, Chibhabha looks to cut this one but he does not move his feet at all and remains static, the ball kisses his outside edge and goes into the safe hands of Rizwan. Good start by Pakistan and they have been rewarded with the wicket.

Craig Ervine (3/13): Muhammad Musa to Craig Ervine, OUT! TIMBER! First wicket for Musa in International Cricket! Brilliant stuff from the youngster! Ervine was good in the previous game but he goes back doing not much in this game. Talking about the delivery, Musa dishes this on a good length around off, Ervine looks to cut this one but it comes off his inside edge and goes onto disturb the stumps behind him. Pakistan get their second breakthrough of the game.

Brendan Taylor (36/45): Iftikhar Ahmed to Brendan Taylor, OUT! TAKEN! Taylor is a goner! Just the wicket Pakistan wanted as this stand was starting to worry them. Not sure if this shot was needed but that is how the two have been playing, attacking. Taylor brings out the slog sweep. He does not hit it really well and hence, holes out to the deep square leg fielder. Pakistan will now look to squeeze.

Sean Williams (75/70): Iftikhar Ahmed to Sean Williams, OUT! CAUGHT! Ahmed gets a fifer and he will be pleased! This is just the wicket that Pakistan needed, the dangerous Williams departs and Pakistan have done really well with the ball. Floated around off, Williams dances down the track and lofts this one wide of the long off region, Shaheen Afridi does really well to run in, dive forward and take a spectacular catch.

Wesley Madhevere (10/15): Iftikhar Ahmed to Wesley Madhevere, OUT! CAUGHT! That is a very good catch by Zaman! Ahmed gets another one. He is proving really handy with the ball but this is rash from Madhevere. He comes down the track but does not get to the pitch of the ball. He still goes ahead with the shot and ends up mistiming it towards long on. Zaman, the sub, runs in, dives forward and takes it. Half the side back in the hut for Zimbabwe and they are in trouble here.

Sikandar Raza (2/8): Iftikhar Ahmed to Sikandar Raza, OUT! CAUGHT! It is Ahmed’s third wicket! Raza walks back now and Pakistan have struck again! He gives away his wicket cheaply and he will be disappointed with the shot that he has played. Ahmed bowls this loopy delivery around off, Raza plays this to the right of Ahmed uppishly looking to send it towards mid on but he does not play this well. Ahmed does well to move to his right and scalp this one. Pakistan are all over Zimbabwe at the moment.

Tendai Chisoro (7/10): Iftikhar Ahmed to Tendai Chisoro, OUT! LBW! Three reds and there was never chance of that being overturned! A poor review to be honest and Chisoro takes one review back with him. Ahmed picks up 4. What a job he is doing with the ball. It is slower and on off, it angles in. Chisoro looks to sweep but misses to get hit on the pads. An appeal and up goes the finger. Chisoro reviews but replays show he is a goner.

Carl Mumba (11/27): Muhammad Musa to Carl Mumba, OUT! TIMBER! Musa finished off the job! Pakistan have been brilliant with the ball so far and they have done well to wrap things up. Back of a length delivery around middle, Mumba makes room and looks to heave this one away but he does not connect bat with ball and the ball goes onto disturb the middle stump. Zimbabwe end with 206 on the board.

Blessing Muzarabani (17/22): Imad Wasim to Blessing Muzarabani, OUT! TIMBER! Imad Wasim is the one who has struck now! They would have wanted to bundle Zimbabwe out before the 200-run mark and they get the 9th wicket now. Floated on middle, Blessing dances down the track looking to go big but he misses this completely. The ball does not and it goes onto hit the stumps.

Richard Ngarava* (1/7): Muhammad Musa to Carl Mumba, OUT!

Pakistan (208/4)

Imam-ul-Haq (49/61): Tendai Chisoro to Imam-ul-Haq, OUT! CAUGHT! Zimbabwe get another wicket and this was a very good review to take. It has worked in Zimbabwe’s favor. Chisoro bowls a floated ball around leg, Imam looks to flick but misses and the keeper scalps this one. The players appeal loudly as they think there is a nick there but the umpire says no. Zimbabwe go for the review and replays roll in and Ultra Edge shows that there is a spike as the ball passes the bat. Imam has to walk back now.

Abid Ali (22/24): Tendai Chisoro to Abid Ali, OUT! CAUGHT! Zimbabwe have got the first wicket of Pakistan and it is Abid Ali who has to walk back now! Flatter outside off, Ali looks to heave this through the off side but he plays it uppishly towards covers and Erving does well to get low and catch this one.

Haider Ali (29/24): Sean Williams to Haider Ali, OUT! LBW! Haider goes for the review but it does not matter as he is adjudged out by the third umpire as well and he has to walk back now. Loopy around middle, Ali looks to sweep this one but misses it completely. It hits him on the pads. The players appeal loudly and the umpire obliges raising his finger. Haider goes for the review and replays roll in and it is seen that this will remain out. He walks back. Zimbabwe doing well to scalp some wickets in the middle overs.

Mohammad Rizwan (1/5): Sikandar Raza to Mohammad Rizwan, OUT! TIMBER! Raza has struck on his first ball and it is Rizwan who walks back now! Flatter around off, Rizwan looks to reverse sweep this one but misses and it goes onto hit the off stump. The umpires want to check if it hit the wicket or if the keeper hit the wickets first. Replays roll in and it has hit the wickets. Rizwan walks back now.

Babar Azam* (77/74) and Iftikhar Ahmed* (16/24): Wesley Madhevere to Babar Azam, SIX! Babar has ended the innings in some style and Pakistan have won this series now! Floated on middle, Babar dances down the track and lofts this one over the fence at long off for a biggie. PAKISTAN WIN BY 6 WICKETS!
