IPL 2020 Qualifier 2: SRH vs DC Score, Highlights, Commentary and Status

Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs: Delhi it is to meet Mumbai in the finals! What a game though we were treated to. Outstanding. Yes, Delhi was always in control but Hyderabad surely had them worried when Williamson and Samad were batting. They though needed one of the two to play the distance but both fell at the wrong time. Have to credit Stoinis and Rabada for the way they bowled. Especially the 17th over by the former and the 19th by the latter. Have to say it is those two who changed the game with their spells.

Delhi Capitals (189/3)

Marcus Stoinis (38/27): Rashid Khan to Marcus Stoinis, OUT! BOWLED! Thank you, says Rashid, to Marcus Stoinis. Rashid goes for his usual celebration, arms spread out. Tossed up around off, the googly, it pitches and comes back in, only by just though. Marcus prods forward and looks to block but misses. The ball goes onto hit the top of off.

Shikhar Dhawan (78/50): Sandeep Sharma to Shikhar Dhawan, OUT! LBW! Shikhar Dhawan decides to walk straightaway. He could have reviewed it though. Low full toss around off, Dhawan looks to reverse sweep the seamer. He though misses to get hit on the pads. Hyderabad appeal for a lbw. The umpire raises his finger but Dhawan starts walking even before. Replays are in and show that impact was outside off. Could have opted for a review, Dhawan.

Shreyas Iyer (21/20): Jason Holder to Shreyas Iyer, OUT! CAUGHT! Very good position Delhi are still in though. Iyer, if it is not your day, better to leave and allow the rest to do their job. And that is what the Delhi skipper does though. Full and around off, he strokes it uppishly again. This time though, it is straight to Manish at mid off.

Shimron Hetmyer* (42/22) and Rishabh Pant* (2/3): T Natarajan to Shimron Hetmyer, Magnificent from Natarajan. Yorker around off, Shimron Hetmyer comes down the track and looks to slam it on the leg side but ends up missing it badly. It goes to the keeper and Delhi manage to sneak in a bye. THEY FINISH ON 189/3.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (172/8)

Priyam Garg (17/12): Marcus Stoinis to Priyam Garg, OUT! TIMBER! Marcus is pumped. The ploy to use him in the Powerplay has worked. Full and around off, Garg looks to drive it on the on side. But he ends up missing it completely. The ball sneaks through in the gap between bat and pad and hits the stumps. Hyderabad need 147 runs in 92 balls.

David Warner (2/3): Kagiso Rabada to David Warner, OUT! BOWLED! Ohh…. What a start for Delhi! Has Kagiso taken Delhi to the finals? Full ball on middle and leg, it pitches and comes back in by just. Warner looks to glance but misses. The ball hits his pads and then deflects off it and goes onto hit the stumps. 178 runs needed in 113 balls still.

Manish Pandey (21/14): Marcus Stoinis to Manish Pandey, OUT! TAKEN! In the air and that is taken. Definitely, game-changing moment from Stoinis. Full and around off, Manish looks to work it on the leg side but the bat turns in his hand. It takes the inner half and goes uppishly to Anrich Nortje at mid on. Nortje squats and takes the ball comfortably.

Kane Williamson (67/45): Marcus Stoinis to Kane Williamson, OUT! TAKEN! Heartache for all the Hyderabad fans. Williamson, what an innings, 67 from 45. Full and well outside off, Williamson slices the ball while going for a drive. Would have been a wide had he left it. But he goes after it, slices it over cover. It is to the left of Rabada at deep cover. KG gets there and completes the catch.

Jason Holder (11/15): Axar Patel to Jason Holder, OUT! CAUGHT! The fielder completes the catch easily. Another goes down. Floated on middle and leg, Jason Holder comes down and looks to loft it over mid-wicket for a biggie. But it was neither a power shot nor a chip. Somewhere in between, it goes straight into the hands of Dubey, who comes running forward from deep mid-wicket. Warner’s men need 100 runs in 50 balls.

Abdul Samad (33/16): Kagiso Rabada to Abdul Samad, OUT! CAUGHT! The substitute fielder, Keemo Paul, takes the catch. Samad is very dejected. Full and around off, Abdul Samad clears the front leg and looks to go big over long off. However, he does not get the timing right. It is to the right of Keemo at long off. Paul gets there, slides and takes the catch comfortably.

Rashid Khan (11/7): Kagiso Rabada to Rashid Khan, OUT! TAKEN! Hyderabad lose Rashid Khan now. Full and around off, Rashid clears his front foot and looked to power this over long on for a six. However, he does not get his timing right. Catching practice to the fielder at long on, who takes this one easily.

Shreevats Goswami (0/1): Kagiso Rabada to Shreevats Goswami, OUT! TAKEN! The third wicket in the over. Short ball, Shreevats goes for the pull shot. However, he does not time it well at all. It goes high in the air and the man at mid-wicket takes it comfortably. Goswami goes for a duck.

Shahbaz Nadeem* (2/3) and Sandeep Sharma* (2/4): Anrich Nortje to Sandeep Sharma, Well, a little moment of comedy in the end. Sandeep Sharma moves too far to the leg side, Anrich Nortje bowls it very full on off, Sharma brings the bat down in time. Digs it out on the off side for a dot. But it does not matter. DELHI WIN BY 17 RUNS AND ARE THROUGH TO THE FINALS!
