IPL 2020 Match 43: SRH vs KXIP Score, Highlights, Commentary and Status

Kings XI Punjab beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs: What a game! What a defense! Punjab one has to say, have done the unbelievable. Who would have thought they would win this game after the start Warner and Bairstow got Hyderabad off too. Yes, they did manage to get three quickly but Pandey and Shankar got the chase back on track, not only back on track but in their favor but some margin when they needed 30 in 30 but that is where everything changed. Pandey fell, dots started to mount, Shankar got a blow on his head which rattled him and also saw his dismissal. After that, Hyderabad just kept losing wicket after wicket. Not the first time did they implode, this did happen to them against Bangalore too but this will probably hurt them a lot more.

Kings XI Punjab (126/7)

KL Rahul (27/27): Rashid Khan to KL Rahul, OUT! KABOOM! Two in two for Hyderabad and it is the two big ones! Hyderabad right on top now! This is a beauty from Rashid Khan. It is the googly, it lands on off, Rahul looks to push at it by leaning forward but the ball turns back in. It sneaks between the gap of bat and pad and hits the stumps behind.

Mandeep Singh (17/14): Sandeep Sharma to Mandeep Singh, OUT! CAUGHT! That was not an easy catch but Rashid Khan does so well to get under this one and he has taken a brilliant catch. This is also the 100th wicket in the Indian T20 League for Sandeep Sharma. Wonderful stuff! Mandeep has been looking for the big shot for some time but he has mistimed it and that will be the end of him. Sandeep bowls a good length ball around off, Mandeep cannot resist and goes for the slog sweep over the mid-wicket fence but the shot does not have the juice required to cross the ropes and it hangs over the mid-wicket region. There are two players coming underneath this and their communication is on point as one leaves it alone and Rashid Khan gets under it and he takes a very good catch.

Chris Gayle (20/20): Jason Holder to Chris Gayle, OUT! CAUGHT! Chris Gayle has to go! He has been outfoxed by his international teammate Holder! They had done well to keep him quiet so far and he does not terrorize the bowlers of Hyderabad. Very well bowled and the catch is a good one as well. They have been bowling yorker after yorker and they have their man. Holder bowls this full and wide outside off, Gayle reaches out and looks to go big over the long off region but the timing on this one was not going to take it past the ropes. He holes out to David Warner in the deep.

Glenn Maxwell (12/13): Sandeep Sharma to Glenn Maxwell, OUT! CAUGHT! It is Warner again who has taken this catch and the Big Show does not turn up again for Punjab. He has been disappointing this season and he continues his poor form. He was looking for the big one as they were just dealing in singles until now and that will be the end of him. On a good length around off, Maxwell lofts this one towards the long on region and Warner does well to run in and take a good catch.

Deepak Hooda (0/2): Rashid Khan to Deepak Hooda, OUT! STUMPED! It is Rashid Khan again who has struck! Bairstow does well too with the gloves and Hooda who had just walked out into the middle, will walk back to the pavilion now. Punjab are in deep trouble now. Their batting order is falling apart like a deck of cards. They still have Pooran out in the middle though. Floated around off, Hooda looks to defend this off his front foot but he does not connect and the ball whizzes past his outside edge and goes into Bairstow’s mitts. He does well to whip the bails off and he looks confident. The third umpire is called into play and replays show that Hooda’s foot was in the air as the bails where whipped off. He has to go. Hyderabad are on top.

Chris Jordan (7/12): Jason Holder to Chris Jordan, OUT! TAKEN! Holder has another one! A good short ball on middle. Jordan looks to pull but gets a top edge. It lobs towards the man at short fine leg who makes no mistake. Hyderabad continue to take wickets at the right time and continue to be on top.

Murugan Ashwin (4/4): Khaleel Ahmed to Murugan Ashwin, OUT! Ashwin is well short! Brilliant from Shankar! This is guided towards him at point. The batters go for a run. He gets to the ball, picks it up and fires it at the stumps at the bowler’s end. He hits the stumps there. An appeal and it is taken upstairs. Replays show that Ashwin is well short.

Nicholas Pooran* (32/28) and Ravi Bishnoi* (0/0): T Natarajan to Nicholas Pooran, A couple to end the innings. Full and wide outside off, Pooran plays this to the deep cover region and they collect two runs to end the innings. PUNJAB END WITH 126/7!

Sunrisers Hyderabad (114/10)

David Warner (35/20): Ravi Bishnoi to David Warner, OUT! CAUGHT! Warner is a goner and this is just the breakthrough that Punjab needed! Bishnoi provides the wicket for Rahul! Warner was looking very dangerous and he walks back to the hut now! Loopy ball around off, Warner looks to reverse sweep this one but he misses it and Rahul scalps this one behind and he is very excited about this. The umpire says no and Rahul goes for the review straightaway. Replays roll in and there is a spike as the ball goes past the bat. It seems like Warner has gloved this. He walks back.

Jonny Bairstow (19/20): Murugan Ashwin to Jonny Bairstow, OUT! TIMBER! Rahul is elated. Murugan has cleaned up Bairstow around his legs. JB never looked comfortable. Jonny walks right across and looks to sweep but Ashwin bowls it full and on middle. Bairstow misses and the stumps are shattered. Punjab need a few more quickly.

Manish Pandey (15/29): Chris Jordan to Manish Pandey, OUT! CAUGHT! Punjab needed a breakthrough and that is exactly what Jordan has provided here! What a catch too in the deep! It was a moment of inspiration! On a good length around off, Pandey slams this one uppishly down the ground looking for the big one. He does not time it as well as he would have liked as the fielder runs in and times his jump to perfection and takes a wonderful catch. It seems that there is some life left in this game after all.

Abdul Samad (7/5): Mohammed Shami to Abdul Samad, OUT! TAKEN! Three wickets in quick succession and the move to get Shami back into the attack has worked! Samad’s stay out there is a short one. A very good catch by Jordan. It is full and on off, Samad hits it hard towards mid off. Jordan leaps high, times it to perfection and takes it brilliantly. Is there a sense of panic in the Hyderabad camp? Well, if there was no panic yet, there could well be now as three quick wickets have fallen. Another 60 needed in 67.

Vijay Shankar (26/27): Arshdeep Singh to Vijay Shankar, OUT! EDGED AND CAUGHT! It is Shankar who walks back now! Punjab needed this and they have got another important wicket! A good delivery too as Arshdeep removes the pace of the ball. On a good length around off, Shankar stays on his back foot and looks to work this to the third man region but it kisses his outside edge and KL Rahul behind is safe as house. Is there a twist in the tale? Hyderabad require 17 runs off 13 balls.

Jason Holder (5/8): Chris Jordan to Jason Holder, OUT! CAUGHT! Another one falls! It is Holder this time and Hyderabad are in a bit of a pickle now! They have made things difficult for themselves now. On a good length outside off, Holder plays this slightly uppishly towards the cover region. He was looking to clear that man but he is not able to as the fielder there gobbles it up. Punjab believe now. 15 required off 9 balls.

Priyam Garg (3/5): Arshdeep Singh to Priyam Garg, OUT! CAUGHT! Punjab are in charge now! What a wonderful catch this is by Jordan and the bowling by Arshdeep is brilliant as well! Hard to see Hyderabad coming back into this game now! A slower back of a length ball around off, Garg lofts this one towards the long on region but he does not time this well. Jordan does well to run in, dive and take a spectacular catch. 13 runs needed in the last 3 balls.

Rashid Khan (0/1): Chris Jordan to Rashid Khan, OUT! CAUGHT! BACK-TO-BACK WICKETS! Jordan is on a hat-trick as well! Rashid Khan was looking to go big but he finds the fielder! They needed him out there right now but he is walking back. Good length ball outside off, Rashid slashes this towards deep cover but his shot does not have enough juice in it for it to cross the ropes. He holes out to the Pooran out there and Hyderabad are in big trouble. 15 required off 8 now.

Sandeep Sharma (0/2): Arshdeep Singh to Sandeep Sharma, OUT! CAUGHT! Hyderabad are falling all over the place at the moment and Sandeep Sharma was not able to deal with this and he walks back now. A slower short length ball on middle, Sandeep looks to pull but he mistimes this one and it goes towards mid-wicket and Ashwin does well to backtrack and scalp this one. Hyderabad now need 13 runs off the last 4 balls.

Khaleel Ahmed (0/2): Arshdeep Singh to Khaleel Ahmed, OUT! RUN OUT! WOW! Punjab have wrapped this game up in some style! What was Khaleel thinking? He did not seem bothered to even get over the crease! On a good length around off, Ahmed taps it towards point and he jogs through for the single. The fielder there, Bishnoi does well to grab the ball and have a shy at the bowler’s end and he does not miss. The third umpire is called into play and replays show that Ahmed is well short of his crease. PUNJAB WIN THIS GAME BY 12 RUNS!
